"Eastern Hydrogen Port" sets sail! United Hydrogen Energy powers the journey

On May 18th, the first inland river 64-container hydrogen fuel cell-powered container ship in China, the "Eastern Hydrogen Port" vessel, set off smoothly and officially entered commercial operation. This ship, carrying the hopes for the green transformation of inland river shipping, is equipped with the core power system provided by Guohong Hydrogen and the ship's high-pressure hydrogen storage system provided by United Hydrogen. It has achieved the "zero breakthrough" in the application of hydrogen fuel cell vessels in China's inland rivers, injecting a brand-new "hydrogen" impetus into the green and low-carbon development of the shipping industry.

On the morning of May 20th, the first inland river 64-container hydrogen fuel cell-powered container ship "Eastern Hydrogen Port" arrived at the Xiaoshan Comprehensive Operation Area of Qiantang Port in Hangzhou. The unloading operation was successfully completed, marking the official opening of the first inland river hydrogen energy container express line from Zhapu to Xiaoshan.

Relying on the abundant hydrogen resources in Jiaxing Port Area, the hydrogen storage system of United Hydrogen can enable hydrogen-powered ships to be refueled in large quantities and quickly, meeting the "high frequency and short cycle" requirements of inland container transportation. This "hydrogen production - hydrogen storage - hydrogen usage" full-chain collaboration has made "Eastern Hydrogen Port" the core carrier of the first green hydrogen inland container transportation line in China. It can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 700 tons per year, with the emission reduction effect equivalent to that of a thousand acres of forest's ecological contribution.

A relevant official from the Shanghai Branch of China Classification Society stated, "The official operation of the 'Eastern Hydrogen Port' vessel holds profound significance. It not only successfully implemented the technology for high-pressure hydrogen storage and safe hydrogen supply systems, but also successfully completed the entire chain of hydrogen application in inland river vessels. It pioneered the launch of a 64-standard-container new energy vessel type for inland rivers, filling the technical and application gaps in this field in China. The relevant official from Zhapu Economic Development Zone (Jiaxing Port Area) also pointed out that the maiden voyage of the 'Eastern Hydrogen Port' vessel marks a crucial leap from 'demonstration application' to 'commercial operation' in the hydrogen use in water transportation scenarios. It is a practical achievement in response to the country's green development strategy and promoting the transformation of the shipping industry. Moreover, it has contributed a replicable and scalable practical sample for the national zero-carbon water transportation."

The successful departure of the "Eastern Hydrogen Port" vessel has not only set a benchmark for hydrogen substitution in inland river container ships across the country, but also provided a highly valuable practical model for the green transformation of old ships and the selection of clean energy for new ships. In the future, United Hydrogen will continue to promote the low-carbon transformation of the sea-river intermodal transportation in the Yangtze River Delta and contribute to the realization of the "carbon neutrality" goal.
